Guangzhou customs releases Jan-May foreign trade statistics

Guangzhou customs has released a series of supportive measures to help local foreign trade companies resume operation and production, boosting the development of foreign trade since 2020.

The foreign trade import and export value achieved in the area of Guangzhou customs has reached 563.79 billion yuan ($79.62 billion) in the first five months of 2020, of which 356.16 billion yuan were for exports.

The foreign trade import and export value in May increased by 1.2 percent than that in April, while the growth rate for export volume during the same time period was 7.4 percent.

The customs has been improving the supervision method on market procurement trade as the export volume for market procurement trade in the area amounted to 97 billion yuan in the first five months of this year, with a remarkable growth of 80.5 percent.

Innovative reforms have been made to help local e-commerce companies deal with problems in logistics and to bolster the stable development of cross-border e-commerce in the area. The import and export value under the Guangzhou customs' cross-border e-commerce management platforms reached 15.52 billion yuan, up 10.5 percent year-on-year, ranking first in China.

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the European Union, and the United States were the top three trade partners with Guangzhou Customs in the first five months of the year as the trade volume with these three parties accounted for 41.7 percent of the total number.

Efforts have also been made to further expand emerging markets. The import and export value with countries and regions alongside the Belt and Road reached 165.5 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 8.3 percent.
