Home appliance manufacturer Haier is set to establish finance center in Nansha, signing a cooperation agreement with the district's management committee and Guangzhou science technology and innovation commission on Aug 14.

According to the agreement, the Chinese top 500 company will build the Haier Global Finance Center to provide financial services to companies in and around the district.

Run under the subsidiary, Haier Financial, it will set up financial institutions, a financial technology center and supply chain financial service companies and build the Haier Financial Plaza and Haier Innovation and Entrepreneurship Nansha Free Trade Park.

The projects are aimed at promoting the construction of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and building Nansha into a smart city featuring emerging industries, smart communities and innovation and entrepreneurship platforms.

Tan Lixia, chairwoman of Haier Financial, said the company's decision to settle in Nansha district was led according to its strategic development and innovation policy.

Tan added the new projects in Nansha will play a key role in integrating the company's industrial finance and big data businesses and help build a special industrial park featuring new industries, smart communities and national class innovation and entrepreneurship demonstration base.

Cai Chaolin, Party chief of Nansha district, said the district will make full use of its advantages and work together with Haier to build itself into an innovation-oriented city that integrates technological innovation and financial services.
