Swedish engineering consultancy company, Sweco, will utilize its clean-tech acumen to help build a new industrial demonstration zone that's eco-friendly, smart, and innovative in Guangzhou.
Sweco Executive Vice-President Christer Stenmark and president of Guangzhou-based Fengshen Group, Li Wenqing, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on June 26 at the Sweden-China Innovation Forum at the ongoing World Economic Forum, commonly known as Davos, in Dalian, Liaoning province.
The Sino-Sweden cooperation will inject new vitality into development of both bilateral relations and economies, according to a Swedish official.

According to the MoU, Fengshen Group and Sweco plan to set an industrial demonstration zone in Guangzhou Huadu Automobile Industry Base (Huadu Auto City), which will be built introducing Swedish sustainable urban planning services.
"Sweden is a global leader in technologies, environmental protection, and manufacturing industry," Li pointed out. "The cooperation with Sweco is in line with Fengshen Group's development concept."
Sweco, one of the largest European engineering consultancy companies, is active in the fields of construction, architecture, and environmental engineering.
The company has participated in the acclaimed Swedish eco-city project Hammarby Sjöstad in Stockholm, which lies on reclaimed industrial land south of Hammarby Lake.
Fengshen Group will draw inspiration from Hammarby Sjöstad and build the water, heating, energy, and waste disposal systems in a sustainable way and integrate them into the overall concept.
"China has made remarkable achievements in its economic development; however, it's true that the country faces increasingly severe environmental problems," Stenmark said.
"Fengshen Group partnering with Sweco to develop an eco-science park marks a big step for Huadu Auto City in environmental protection and sustainability," commented Ding Junling, deputy director of its administrative committee.
