Guangzhou Science City (GSC), known as the "Future of Guangzhou", is a science and technology park with a goal of strengthening Guangzhou's innovative science and technology capacity, and speeding up the development of the city's high-tech industry.

It is also the core of the city's hi-tech industrial development zones (including Guangzhou Science City, Tianhe Science and Technology Park, Huanghuagang Science and Technology Park, Guangzhou Private-run Science and Technology Park and Nansha Information Science and Technology Park) and an important engine for innovation in Guangzhou and the whole of Guangdong Province.

A total of over 70 billion yuan has been invested in the GSC since 1998 when the project was launched, turning a once hilly orchard into an international ecological new city that is both splendid and livable with a coverage of 22.74 square kilometers.

GSC is a cluster of high-end industries, boasting South China's largest innovation carrier as well as a one-million-square-meter technological enterprise incubator. It is also stepping up efforts in the construction of a one-million-square-meter technological enterprise booster, a one-million-square-meter public technical support platform and one million square meters of living and supporting facilities.

GSC has named 15 national bases (industrial zones) including the National Biological Industry Base, the Electronic Information Industry Base and the Business Starting Base for Overseas High-level Talent, as well as 4 Guangdong province strategic new industry bases attracting over 1,600 high and new tech enterprises, over 3,000 scholars returning from overseas and nearly one fourth of the research and development institutions of Guangzhou city.
