In a major move to become a more attractive hub for international professionals, Nansha district in Guangzhou has launched upgraded policies recognizing overseas professional qualifications and offering significant financial incentives.

The district has released the "Nansha District Overseas Professional Qualifications Recognition List 2.0" and "Nansha District High-end, Precision and Urgently Needed Overseas Professional Qualifications Recognition List 2.0". The heart of the new policy is a talent reward of up to 1 million yuan ($138,000) for eligible overseas certificate holders who choose to work or start businesses in Nansha.

The policy focuses on bridging regulatory systems across Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao. It introduces a groundbreaking "practice first, register later" model for professionals from Hong Kong and Macao, speeding up the process to begin working in fields like engineering and healthcare.

Nansha is also making daily life easier. The district now recognizes social security contributions made in Hong Kong or Macao, sparing residents the hassle of double payments. Additionally, a personal income tax policy ensures that the tax burden for Hong Kong and Macao residents working in Nansha remains comparable to what they would pay at home.

"Calculating the tax benefit took just two minutes online. This policy lets me settle down here and focus on my teaching," said Lin Weihao, a Macao-born teacher at a Nansha school.

To streamline services, Nansha has established one-stop windows for social security affairs and set up convenient service stations within universities and innovation hubs, ensuring support is always within reach for international talent.
