The Adora Mediterranean, which set sail from Nansha International Cruise Homeport on Jan 7, marked the first cruise of 2026 to depart from the district. The departure also coincides with the 10th anniversary of Guangzhou's cruise tourism development and marks the launch of its first "Three Southeast Asian Countries" itinerary — a nine-day voyage that begins and ends at this port.

The Adora Mediterranean is carrying nearly 2,300 Chinese and international passengers, with an occupancy rate of 85 percent. Travelers span a wide age range, from 3 to 90 years old, including multi-generation families, retirees, and working professionals, highlighting the broad appeal of cruise tourism. The itinerary includes popular Southeast Asian destinations, such as Nha Trang, Vietnam; Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia; and Muara, Brunei.
To ensure efficient processing of large passenger volumes, Nansha Immigration has implemented innovative measures, including an AR-guided inspection hall, facial recognition systems, and QR code-based clearance, reducing average processing time to as little as five seconds.
The second departure of this itinerary is scheduled for March 11, and a special Spring Festival voyage will commence on Feb 17, featuring onboard cultural activities led by intangible cultural heritage inheritors. Since its opening in 2016, Nansha Cruise Homeport has served over two million passengers. With the second-largest domestically built cruise ship, Adora Huacheng, slated for delivery in 2026 and homeporting in Nansha, Guangzhou's cruise economy is poised for sustained growth.
