At the badminton event at the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 9th National Special Olympics, six athletes from Qihui School in Guangzhou's Nansha district, representing Guangdong province, achieved outstanding results: one gold, two silver, and six bronze medals, plus two fourth-place finishes.

The school's athletes achieved medals in several events. Liang Weijie and Ou Zicong secured gold and silver in the Men's Singles H group. Shi Yunxi earned a bronze in the Men's Singles F group. In women's singles, Lu Xiying, Huang Jiahui, and Tan Weiting each took bronze medals in their respective categories. The doubles teams also contributed to the medal count, with Shi and Huang, Lu and Liang Weijie, and Ou and Tan winning a silver and two bronzes.

This Special Olympics badminton team was established in June this year, building from the ground up. With a structured training program — including daily after-school practice, full-day sessions during summer breaks, ongoing guidance from professional coaches, and competing in external events — the players gradually enhanced their technical abilities and mental toughness.

These achievements are also made possible by the strong support from various parties, all contributing to helping these special youths grow and overcome barriers through sports.
