Huangge town, with a history spanning nearly 800 years, is famous as the birthplace of qilin (Chinese unicorn). Its Kylin dance was recognized as a provincial intangible cultural heritage in 2006. The performance artistically depicts the qilin's daily activities using sequences like departing the cave, circling the head, and swinging the tail, all set to the rhythm of gongs, drums, and wind instruments. This dance exudes a festive atmosphere and showcases the unique charm of Lingnan, reflecting people's hopes for blessings and good luck.
The opening ceremony will smoothly combine traditional intangible heritage with contemporary artistry, merging Lingnan cultural elements with innovative technology. In addition to the Kylin dance, warm-up performances will feature other heritage arts like lion dance and Yingge dance. Most acts are jointly presented by Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, featuring professional artists, university students, and others. This creative blend of Lingnan culture and modern technology aims to highlight the beauty of the Greater Bay Area through stage artistry.
This showcase highlights Nansha's profound cultural heritage but also demonstrates the lively spirit of intangible cultural heritage through innovative expressions.
