Recently, 118 Tesla New Energy Vehicles were shipped from Guangzhou's Nansha to Hong Kong via the Guangzhou-Hong Kong Automobile Export Express Lane, with a total value of approximately 30 million yuan ($4.22 million). This marks Tesla's first large-scale export through this express lane.

Since its launch in June this year, the express lane has helped export 346 NEVs to Hong Kong, including brands like Smart, GAC Aion, and Tesla. An extra batch of about 270 NEVs, valued at 60 million yuan, is also scheduled for shipment in the near future.
Through innovative customs clearance and warehousing models, the express lane has cut vehicle registration time in Hong Kong from 14 working days to just three days after arrival, reducing overall costs. Nansha, as a major shipping hub in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, exported over 12,000 vehicles to Hong Kong in 2024, representing 46 percent of the Chinese mainland's total auto exports to the region. More than 90 percent of this share consisted of NEVs.
Nansha's automobile port has China's largest ro-ro terminal cluster and can handle over three million vehicles every year, highlighting its strong infrastructure.
Nansha is capitalizing on Hong Kong's annual import demand of 50,000 to 60,000 vehicles by expanding the express lane's reach through a "retaining existing clients to attract new ones" approach. This strategy is advancing cross-border automotive trade into a new phase of collaboration.
