Pony.ai launches non-stop mode for self-driving tests

Updated: 2025-07-31nansha.guangdong.chinadaily.com.cn

Pony.ai, a leader in autonomous driving technology, announced on July 25 that it has initiated 24/7 all-weather autonomous driving tests in Beijing, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen.

The significance of all-weather testing is substantial as it can help address various travel challenges. With public transportation services reducing their supply during the night, capacity often drops to less than 30 percent of daytime levels. Pony.ai is utilizing this opportunity to explore practical scenarios and resolve difficulties associated with late-night travel.

Pony.ai's technology has accumulated over 50 million kilometers of testing mileage across multiple locations and boasts 500,000 hours of unmanned operation experience. Their "AI driver" can effectively mitigate driving risks caused by low light conditions, limited visibility, and driver fatigue, significantly enhancing nighttime safety.

Their L4 level autonomous driving software and hardware system utilizes multi-sensor fusion technology, enabling real-time 360-degree environmental recognition in low-light conditions and surpassing human perception capabilities to handle various complex road conditions.

Built on a foundation of "world model + virtual driver", the seventh-generation vehicles can accurately detect common obstacles, while their self-developed sensor self-cleaning solution can withstand extreme weather conditions.

Pony.ai aims to enrich travel options and become a guardian for late-night travel in urban areas.
