In 2024, Nansha upgraded and expanded its forests by 4,281 mu (285.43 hectares), created 252 mu of mangroves, improved greenways by 35.1 kilometers, and added 19.6 km of blueways.

Nansha boasts over 200 species of wetland birds, with over 100,000 migratory birds flocking to its wetlands every autumn and winter, including some rare species.

As the largest mangrove wetland in Guangzhou, Nansha's wetlands host a total of 15 mangrove species from 13 families, accounting for 62.5 percent of the mangrove species in Guangdong.

In recent years, Nansha has pioneered innovative conservation strategies. By implementing a new model of "mangroves + ecological industry", it has established a new rural demonstration zone that fosters the deep integration of mangrove ecological conservation with coastal tourism, sightseeing agriculture, and leisure fishing industries.

Nansha has also signed agreements with surrounding regions to strengthen efforts in ecological environment construction, prevention, and governance.
