Guangzhou has established a total of 284 shipping routes and 39 sea-rail intermodal trains, as well as trade relations with over 100 countries and regions and more than 400 ports worldwide, with a total import and export value exceeding 1.1 trillion yuan ($1,53.6 billion).

In 2024, Guangzhou Port's cargo throughput exceeded 680 million metric tons, with its container throughput surpassing 26 million TEUs, ranking it among the world's top ports. Specifically, the container throughput of the Nansha Port area exceeded 20 million TEUs for the first time, marking a significant milestone, with the proportion of foreign trade reaching over 50 percent for the first time.

By utilizing its advantages, Guangzhou is developing port-side processing and technology, creating a "front shop, back factory" model to attract investments.

The export of automobiles through Nansha Port is growing, as is the output value of high-end ships and the marine industries cluster, making the port-side industry a crucial support for Guangzhou in building a modern industrial system.

Guangzhou will continue to strive to build a modern city and an international comprehensive transportation hub city with distinct maritime characteristics.
