Wanqingsha town was cooking up a storm on June 30, hosting its "Cantonese Chef Competition and Summer Music Festival – Exploration of Tanjia Food Tour".
Chefs from nine renowned catering brands competed with seasonal ingredients such as white gourd and Nansha green crabs, which took center stage, integrating elements of tanka culture's freshness and heritage.
One creative Tanka-style dish after another appeared as judges evaluated them on multiple dimensions, including taste, skills, creativity, and cultural integration. In the end, Nansha Tanka Sister Catering won first prize, with their magnificent plating winning unanimous praise from the judges.
In the bustling market, a variety of Tanka specialty foods and high-quality local agricultural products were on display, accompanied by nutritionists who provided health knowledge.

In the Intangible Cultural Heritage Tanka Cake Experience Area, inheritors sang saltwater songs while teaching, attracting many people to participate.
The summer music festival brought the atmosphere to a climax, with singers and bands from Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao. Hong Kong singer Hinson Wong interpreted classic hits, while local singers and dance groups delivered Tanka-style performances. Tradition collided with modernity, and music and dance intertwined, immersing the audience in an unforgettable experience.
