Over 1,600 metric tons of durians from Thailand were transported from the Nansha Port in Guangzhou to fruit wholesale markets and supermarkets across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area on May 6.

The Nansha Port in Guangzhou boasts a rich network of international routes, advanced cold chain storage facilities, and efficient customs clearance processes, attracting a large number of fresh produce logistics enterprises.

Among the over 150 foreign trade routes connecting Nansha Port to countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative, approximately half lead to Southeast Asian countries, with frequent trips to major fruit-producing regions like Thailand and Cambodia.

After being imported through the Nansha Port, Southeast Asian fruits such as durians, bananas and coconuts can be swiftly distributed to households across the Greater Bay Area.

To support the high-quality development of the cold chain industry in Nansha, Nansha Customs has enhanced smart customs development, deepened the integration of customs and port information systems, and utilized 5G technology.

During the unloading process, high-definition cameras are used to scan and obtain real-time container information, automatically linking it with the terminal operating system data to verify customs declaration information, further enhancing port operations and cargo clearance efficiency. According to Nansha Customs statistics, Nansha Port imported 118,000 tons of fruits in the first quarter of this year.
