Nansha district of Guangzhou, South China's Guangdong province, has witnessed impressive growth in its shipbuilding industry in recent years, with the output value of the sector and the related equipment manufacturing industry increasing by 12.5 percent last year.

In January, CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding Company, which has an annual output value exceeding 20 billion yuan ($ 2.7 billion), set up its base in Nansha, marking a strong start to the year for the district's shipbuilding industry.

In the past three months, the shipbuilder delivered six vessels with a total capacity of 174,100 deadweight tons, representing a 20 percent year-on-year increase in delivery volume. The vessels were delivered well ahead of the contracted schedule.

The company has secured contracts worth 12.68 billion yuan and currently holds orders for 14 medium-sized gas carriers, with high-tech and high value-added vessels becoming the cornerstone of the company's high-quality development.

Building on this success, Huangpu Wenchong has integrated its advantages in research and development, design, production, and quality control, utilizing cutting-edge technologies such as digital modeling and intelligent welding to speed up construction of its existing orders. Currently, the company has orders worth more than 54 billion yuan, with the construction schedule already extending to 2029.

Nansha and Huangpu Wenchong have signed strategic cooperation agreements that outline partnerships in areas such as deepening military-civilian integration, industrial development, technological innovation, talent cultivation, and industrial land use.
