Nansha Library has designated April as the Reading Month, with 114 reading events planned. For several consecutive years, Nansha Library has maintained its position as the city's top lender of documents.
In 2024, the cumulative lending volume of Nansha Library reached 2.56 million copies, with the total collection of document resources growing to 1.36 million copies, averaging over 2.6 loans per book. Data shows that Nansha Library loaned 1.03 million documents in the first quarter, maintaining its leading position in the city with a 60 percent year-on-year increase.
The 114 events will be held at various locations, covering 94 branch libraries and service points in Nansha district. The activities include public lectures, themed exhibitions, hands-on experiences, popular science research, and book recommendations.
On World Book Day, April 23, Nansha Library will host a reading festival, inviting book-loving citizens of Nansha to participate.
Nansha Library's first self-built database will be launched on the day of the event. This database will gradually form a comprehensive and locally distinctive digital collection system by digitizing local document resources in the library.
Additionally, Nansha Library is positioned as a key offline hub for libraries in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. It is dedicated to promoting the Bay Area Library Joint Service Platform across the district. Presently, this platform has integrated 23 libraries from the Bay Area and offers access to over 110 thematic databases. This enables readers in the Bay Area to access a wealth of digital resources available on the platform.
