Visa-free transit policy implemented in Nansha Port

On Aug 18, the Nansha Immigration Inspection Station facilitated the border inspection procedures for two foreign passengers eligible for a 144-hour visa-free transit. These passengers needed urgently to enter China for unexpected business activities and had not applied for a Chinese visa in time.

Upon discovering that the Nansha Ferry Terminal could process the 144-hour visa-free transit procedures, they traveled from Hong Kong by boat to the port. They applied to the immigration authorities and became the first passengers at Nansha Port to benefit from the 144-hour visa-free transit policy.

Passengers James and Lucky expressed their gratitude to the on-duty police officers, saying, "Thank you so much! This transit visa-free policy is practical and convenient!" 

From January to July this year, foreign arrivals at various ports nationwide totaled 17.25 million, marking a year-on-year increase of 129.9 percent. Additionally, 846,000 port visas were issued, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 182.9 percent.

The further implementation of the 144-hour visa-free transit policy is expected to boost Nansha's popularity among foreign tourists. This policy will increase international economic and trade exchanges in Nansha, attract investment and talent, and provide new impetus to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area's development.
