The chip factory of Ascen Power is accelerating its production of automotive-grade silicon carbide chips to bring its annual production capacity to 240,000 6-inch and 240,000 8-inch silicon carbide wafer chips.

Based in Guangzhou's Nansha district, Ascen Power is China's largest automotive-grade silicon carbide chip manufacturer. Its silicon carbide chip factory is a major project of Guangdong province that aims to develop the competitiveness of homegrown chips.

With a total investment of 7.5 billion yuan ($1.05 billion), the project will significantly alleviate the domestically produced automotive-grade silicon carbide chips shortage and help Ascen Power become one of the world-class enterprises in the sector once it reaches its designed productive capacity.

The dust-free workshop was used in November 2022 and now has a monthly production capacity of 10,000 pieces.

The automatic handling system used in the workshop will coordinate with machine robots to achieve fully automatic and unmanned handling of materials, improving efficiency and reducing errors. Engineers can monitor the devices in real time through shared screens, and issue commands to control them remotely.

Ascen Power has signed contracts with over 40 customers for chip fabrication, covering the vast majority of silicon carbide chip design enterprises in China, and its products' pass rate and consistency are highly recognized.
