The Pearl River Delta (PRD) Water Resource Allocation Project, a major national water conservancy project and an important livelihood project in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, recently achieved a major breakthrough.

The waterless startup commissioning of unit No 3 at Gaoxinsha Pump Station, a crucial component of the project, was completed on Nov 9. This marks an important step towards the goal of starting trial operations next month.

The total length of the project's water transmission line is 113.2 kilometers, including a mainline project that spans 90.3 km and a 7.4-km Nansha branch line.

Gaoxinsha Pump Station is located in the Nansha section of the PRD Water Resource Allocation Project and serves as both a "regulator" and a "hub station."

Once completed, it will bring 531 million, 330 million, and 847 million cubic meters of water from Xijiang River to the three major water-receiving areas of Nansha in Guangzhou, Dongguan, and Shenzhen, respectively, each year.
