The Longxue Island boundary river and Jibaosha 6 Chong improvement project in Nansha district has commenced, local media outlets reported on Oct 17.
Longxue Island focuses on the development of large-scale foundational industries such as port logistics, shipbuilding, and ocean machinery manufacturing. In order to adapt to the planned construction of a deep-water port area, Longxue Island will adopt a layout plan that combines shore-based and double-dig in-place port pools. It will also rearrange the original river system to meet the requirements of port land.
The Jibaosha 6 Chong project starts at the intersection of Jibaosha North Road and Jibaosha 5 Chon. It then passes through Wanlong East Road and Qihang Road, and eventually joins the Jiaomen Waterway, forming a "7" shape. To meet the drainage standards of having to withstand 24 hours of heavy rainfall approximately once every 20 years, the project will build embankments and buildings of a high standard.
In addition, the project is committed to creating a world-leading "sponge city" system. By continuously improving the drainage system of Longxue Island, it aims to effectively control runoff and achieve a natural form of urban development.
