Chinese players dominate at 2023 Guangzhou Open

On Sept 23, the ultimate showdown of the WTA 250 2023 Guangzhou Open took place at the Nansha International Tennis Center, and Chinese tennis players swept both the women's singles and women's doubles championships.

In the women's singles final, Wang Xiyu defeated top-seeded Magda Linette with a score of 6-0, 6-2, claiming the first WTA singles title of her pro career. Guo Hanyu and Jiang Xinyu also secured their first WTA doubles title in the women's final.

"This is a truly unforgettable and significant championship. The opponents in this competition are all very strong. Linette is a player I deeply respect, and I have learned a lot from competing against her," said Wang after her victory.

"Since the first day of my professional career, I have been dreaming of this day. Now, it has become a reality! I am extremely grateful for the support of the fans who showed up today. It is because of your encouragement that I am able to stay so determined and believe in myself," Wang added.

Wang's triumph in the women's singles category marks a major milestone in her career, while Guo and Jiang's victory showcased their exceptional teamwork and skills. These remarkable achievements by China's women tennis players highlight their talent, determination, and ability to compete on the global stage.
