The Nansha-Zhuhai (Zhongshan) Intercity Railway, which spans from the Wanqingsha Station in Nansha to the Xingzhong Station in Zhongshan, has made great progress.
To date, 6 percent of the civil construction work of the railway's Guangzhou section, running from Wanqingsha Station to Ershichong Station, has been completed, local media outlets reported on Aug 29.
The section stretches for 17.1 kilometers, is entirely underground and is designed for a maximum speed of 160 km per hour. It includes three new stations - Shichong, Shisanchong, and Ershichong stations - all of which are currently under construction.
The Zhongshan section of the railway includes nine stations, four of which are currently undergoing civil construction, while the remaining five are in the pre-construction preparation stage.
The railway is a significant project that will greatly enhance transportation connectivity between Guangzhou and Zhongshan. Once completed, it will provide faster and more convenient travel options for commuters, and it will contribute to the overall development of the two cities.
