The 2023 Guangzhou Nansha International Challenger, a world-renowned tennis tournament, is scheduled to be held for the first time from Sept 10 to 16 at the Nansha International Tennis Center.
The competition is rated as being in the Challenger 75 category, in the international tournament system operated by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), with prize money of $80,000.
The main singles draw will consist of 32 spots, while the doubles main draw will consist of 16 spots.
This year's lineup is quite strong, with two powerful Chinese players participating, Shang Juncheng and Bu Yunchaokete, who have previously appeared in grand slam tournaments. In addition, three ATP top 100 ranked players will also compete.
Shang, who is only 18 years old, has been one of the most prominent rising stars in China. He is currently the youngest player in the ATP top 200 rankings.
At this year's Australian Open, Shang battled through the qualifiers and defeated his opponent in the first round of the main draw, securing China's first win in the Australian Open main draw for male players.
The competition in Nansha is set to attract tennis enthusiasts from not only Guangzhou, but from all over the world. It's expected to be an exciting tussle that showcases the talent and skills of both local and international players.
