Located in Hengli town, Nansha district, there's a comprehensive grain complex, which is the largest of its kind in South China. It integrates the functions of grain procurements, storage, trade, sales, logistics, and quality inspection, local media outlets reported on Aug 22.
Featuring a site covering about 150,000 square meters and a building floor space of around 190,000 sq m, the complex comprises various types of high-standard, specialized grain and oil warehouses, including silos, as well as low-temperature storage, and mixed storage facilities.
With an annual production capacity of up to 350,000 metric tons of rice and flour, and a storage capacity of 430,000 tons, it plays a vital role in ensuring food production and security in Guangzhou.
Currently, Nansha has a total grain storage capacity exceeding 1 million tons, and the infrastructure construction of grain storage facilities continues to be optimized.
Additionally, there is a combined capacity of 1.06 million tons for short-term storage and transit of grain at Nansha Port, which has handled over 10 million tons of grain and other cargo turnover for domestic and foreign trade in 2022.
