In recent years, the pre-made food industry in Nansha has been booming, with 25 enterprises having moved to the district. Many special pre-made products from Nansha are now sold all over the world.
In order to promote the development of the pre-made food industry, Nansha launched targeted measures in March, providing policy support in terms of industrial parks and scientific research.
A typical example of the beneficiaries is one pre-made food manufacturer in the Hengli Industrial Park, which specializes in meat products that are vacuum-packed and then placed in equipment for slow cooking at temperatures of 50-60 degrees over 12 hours.
The specific water temperature and time can be adjusted according to different ingredients. Afterwards, the cooked ingredients are pre-cooled with water of zero degrees and they are then sent to the freezer.
The company says the meat produced through this processing technique is tender, tasty and healthy. Only common seasonings such as salt are added. Although the production costs are higher, it caters to the demand of the mid-to-high-end market.
The pre-made food industry in Nansha is flourishing, with a total output value of nearly 2 billion yuan ($275 million) in 2022.
In order to fully leverage the advantages of the sector, efforts are being made to accelerate the construction of industrial parks and an import and export trade zone for pre-made food.
