A locally bred crucian carp variety from Nansha has been awarded national recognition, local media outlets reported on Aug 21.
This has been the only national-level aquatic product variety approved in Guangdong province this year. Currently, the fry of the fish is sold nationwide, to the tune of 1 billion or so each year.
With 24 seed industry enterprises, the district has also developed 23 new varieties that have been approved at the provincial level.
In recent years, Nansha has made significant progress in the production of fish and vegetables, implementing the national seed industry development strategy.
The district is also establishing innovative platforms, and is building a high-quality fisheries industry park. Collaborating with research institutions such as Sun Yat-sen University, it has set up joint research bases to promote scientific advancements in the seed industry.
Nansha's efforts in breeding fish, fruit and vegetables, along with its commitment to innovation and scientific research partnerships, showcase its dedication to becoming a prominent player in the seed industry.
