Nansha hosts youth badminton tournament with 400 players

The recent Nansha youth badminton tournament brought together 400 players from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, which not only showcased their sportsmanship, but also served as a testament to their skills, local media outlets reported on Aug 13.

The competition was composed of local groups and open groups, with the local groups mainly consisting of players from Nansha district, while the open ones included competitors from the cities in the Greater Bay Area.

It covered four events, namely boy's singles, girl's singles, boy's doubles, and girl's doubles. For the young players it was an exciting opportunity to test their skills and show their prowess in the sport.

"I participated in the local group this time and won both the singles and doubles championships," said 11-year-old Chen Yu, who has been playing for five years.

"I'm thrilled to have won the champion title and being able to compete in Nansha has allowed me to continue to improve my skills, which makes me very excited," he added.
