The Global Consumer Conference and International Consumption Center Cities Guangzhou Forum was held in Nansha, Guangzhou from Feb 28 to Mar 1.
Swire Properties and other well-known domestic and international brands, as well as Deloitte and other professional services organizations, gathered in Nansha to discuss new trends in the development of the consumer industry. They also offered advice on building a high-quality global consumer goods platform.
The conference released China's first special plan for the construction of an international consumption center city. The development plan proposes a consumption system and spatial layout of consumption with Guangzhou's characteristics, forming an exploration of Guangzhou with exemplary value.
In July 2021, Guangzhou took the lead, along with four Chinese municipalities directly under the central government, in being approved for the development of international consumer center cities.
After Guangzhou's total consumption and foreign trade both surpassed the trillion yuan mark in 2021, the growth rate of its total retail sales of consumer goods ranked among the top tier cities in China in 2022, demonstrating strong development resilience and consumption momentum.
