An environment impact report on the Nansha's Tingjiao Bridge transformation project was recently issued by the Guangzhou municipal bureau of ecology and environment, in which the bridge will be widened and reconstructed, enabling it to serve non-motor vehicles, pedestrians, as well as civic pipelines, local media outlets reported on Nov 12.
The bridge is a key link connecting Nansha to Guangzhou's central urban area and also connects to several local main roads, such as Zhongchuan Middle Road and the Xinlian Interchange. It has been in service for three decades and is only 15 meters wide with four lanes, so it is vital and necessary for it to be widened and upgraded.
The transformation project will start on the section running from the S358 provincial highway in the west to Jingang Avenue in the east, spanning a length of about 1.2 kilometers. It is designed to have two-way eight lanes, with a speed limit of 60 km per hour. The total length of the bridge will be about 971.58 meters.
The project's construction will mainly encompass road, bridge, culvert, drainage, greening, lighting, traffic, and power engineering work.
