Plan issued for intercity railway passing through Nansha

The construction plan of the Nansha-Zhuhai (Zhongshan) Intercity Railway's west line, covering its project direction, station settings, and track laying methods, was issued by Guangzhou Metro on Oct 28.

With a designated speed of 160 kilometers per hour and a total length of 79 km, the line will begin at Wanqingsha Station, the starting station of Metro Line 18, and then be divided into one west line that goes to Zhongshan, and one east line that goes to Zhuhai.

In addition to Wanqingsha Station, three new stations will be built in the railway line's Nansha section.

Upon operation, it will take only 45 minutes to travel from Guangzhou to Zhongshan's central areas and reach the major cities in the west part of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

It will also connect Nansha with Guangzhou's core area and Zhongshan Cuiheng New Area, which will drive the innovation and development of the district's finance and technology industries, thus enhancing the influence of Guangzhou as a core city in the Greater Bay Area.
