Guangzhou COVID-19 Update for July 31

On July 31, Guangzhou reported 1 local confirmed case, 7 imported confirmed cases, 5 imported asymptomatic cases, and 1 imported confirmed case previously reported as an asymptomatic case. As of 24:00 July 31, 2022, a total of 6,473 positive cases have been reported in the city. These include 3,122 confirmed cases(2,146 imported cases and 976 local cases), among which, 82 cases are still being treated in hospital; and 3,351 asymptomatic cases (3,092 imported cases and 259 local cases), among which, 44 cases are still under medical observation.

Local Case Details

The patient is an 18-year-old girl who lives in Building H1 Aoyuan Plaza, Huangpu District. She spent most of the time at home and in the neighborhood over the past 14 days.

On the morning of July 29, she developed a sore throat and didn't go out until in the evening when she took a PCR testing accompanied by her family at the community PCR testing site and tested negative for COVID-19. She visited the fever clinic of Guangdong Second Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital Huangpu Hospital on the evening of July 30 due to a fever and tested positive for COVID-19 during medical observation. 

She was tested again on the early morning of July 31 and confirmed as a COVID-19 patient. The patient has been transferred to Guangzhou No. 8 People's Hospital for quarantine and treatment and has been diagnosed as a confirmed COVID-19 patient with mild symptoms. Identified close contacts and secondary close contacts have been quarantined. Places with exposure risks have been cordoned off and disinfected.
