Guangzhou's Nansha district held a seminar on the integrated policy system for innovation, funding, talent and industrial chains on July 21, which was the first of its kind among national hi-tech zones.
Representatives from 40 key major enterprises and institutes such as iFLYTEK, Jinko Electronics and the Guangzhou campus of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) attended the seminar to share different insights.
As an important measure to develop Nansha into a strategic platform in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the system is to focus on the R&D and manufacturing of chips and integrated circuits, which is expected to support innovative and strategic emerging industries.
Based on developing large-scale manufacturing such as high-end equipment and automobile manufacturing, the system is projected to promote the high-quality development while highlighting the ocean economy.
The district plans to invest more than 20 billion yuan ($3 billion) to support enterprises and talents, as well as aggregate innovations, talents and funds for Nansha to promote the district's high-quality development.
Guo Runlyu, deputy head of the Greater Bay Area Postdoctoral Science and Technology Innovation (Nansha) Public Research Center, said that the talent policies will be vital for the center to introduce and cultivate postdoctoral fellowships. The research center has now recruited 128 postdoctoral fellows and made over 300 scientific achievements with the help of Nansha's previous talent policy.
