Guangzhou's Nasha district has been committed to strengthening technology innovation as part of the Nansha Plan, an overall plan for Nansha to deepen comprehensive cooperation between Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao that was released over one month ago.
The district has seized the opportunities brought by the Nansha Plan, carrying out reform and opening-up, bolstering innovation, as well as promoting development.
As the first independent legal entity under the cooperation of the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong after the unveiling of the Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) has been designed to push forward communication in culture and education in the Greater Bay Area, as well as to increase Nansha's overall strength in higher education.
In addition, high-tech enterprises in various fields with distinctive characteristics and high-level talents are expected to be cultivated in Nansha, as stated in the Nansha Plan.
In June, Nansha signed a contract with the South China University of Technology to jointly build SCUT Nansha Science and Technology Innovation Valley in the Qingsheng Hub starting area.
On July 1, Pony.ai's self-driving travel service, which has been operating in Nansha for more than three years, officially started charging operations, becoming the first self-driving taxi in the country to be paid for their work.

Five State-owned enterprises, including Guangzhou Industrial Investment and Capital Operation Holding Group, jointly made a strategic investment of 500 million yuan ($74 million) in DarkMatter. AI on July 4, promoting Nansha's deep integration of AI with industrial transformation and upgrading, which gives the district more motivation to accelerate the cultivation of strategic emerging industrial clusters.

On July 7, Nansha aerospace unicorn company Guangzhou Zhongke Aerospace Exploration Technology launched a space travel plan. In addition, the first phase of the Zhongke Aerospace Flight Technology Industrialization Base has been fully capped and is expected to be put into use in August.
