The headquarters and production base of Guangzhou Greater Bay Technology (GBT), a company specializing in the development of fast-charging batteries for electric vehicles, started construction in Nansha on May 28.

Registered in Nansha in September 2020, GBT managed to become a leader in this field within one year due to its world-record-breaking XFC (eXtreme Fast Charging) technology, which enables vehicles to get 80 percent charged within 15 minutes. The charging speed of its latest products exceeds XFC, enabling vehicles to get 80 percent charged in eight minutes.

The headquarters will be used for R&D and manufacturing by GBT. "That means all the work related to XFC, from the cell and energy storage to the PACK system, will be conducted in Nansha. A complete industrial chain will be formed here," said Peng Feng, president of GBT.

A total of 4 billion yuan ($600 million) is expected to be invested in the construction of GBT's headquarters, while its production capacity and annual output value are expected to reach 8 Gwh and 7.2 billion yuan respectively.

In addition to GBT's headquarters, details on the construction of Yuexiu Ipark (Hongkong-Guangzhou Research and Production Base), the energy supply project for the No 3 and No 4 energy stations in the starting area of Mingzhu Bay, as well as a few other projects were also announced at the launching ceremony held in Nansha on May 28.

These projects, mainly involving industries like modern industry and infrastructure, are aimed at promoting the development of cutting-edge technologies and the advanced manufacturing sector in Nansha.
