As of April 18, the sea-rail combined transportation volume of the Nansha Port Railway has exceeded 10,000 20-foot equivalent units (TEUs).

In the first quarter of this year, Nankang Furniture imported 1,200 TEUs of raw materials through the Nansha Port Railway, producing furniture with an export value of nearly 1 billion yuan ($150 million), which was exported to Europe, the United States, Africa, and other places.

The first "Hunan-Guangdong-Africa" rail-sea combined transport channel import train departed from Nansha Port Station of the Nansha Port Railway on Dec 31, 2021.

Compared with traditional river-sea combined transport channels, the "Hunan-Guangdong-Africa" rail-sea combined transport channel can shorten the overall transportation time by about 10 days. Compared with road transport, the domestic transportation cost can be reduced by about 60 percent, while connecting Hunan with Africa, the Asia Pacific, Latin America, as well as other regions.

Guangzhou Port's sea-rail combined transportation container volume reached 65,000 TEUs in the first quarter of this year, a year-on-year increase of 26 percent.

In recent years, Guangzhou Port has been accelerating its interconnection with Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan, Jiangxi, Hunan, and other provinces. At present, the sea-rail combined transport business of the port covers 42 cities in China.
