Nansha School for Hong Kong Children completes capping work

The Nansha School for Hong Kong Children has been capped, local media outlets reported on April 25, marking the completion of all capping work on the main structures of the school.

Located in the Hong Kong-style international community of Dongchong town in Guangzhou's Nansha district, the school is just 1.7 kilometers away from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou).

Its total investment is about 760 million yuan ($119 million), and it covers a total area of 93 mu (6.2 hectares), with a construction area of 76,000 square meters.

Scheduled to open in September this year, the school will provide high-quality basic education for children from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, as well as children of overseas Chinese and foreigners in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. It will contain 36 classes and an estimated student population of 1,620.

The construction of the school started on Nov 1, 2021. The first teaching building was capped on Jan 25, while construction on the main structure of the school's dormitory buildings began on Feb 24. The capping of all dormitory buildings was completed on April 20.

The decoration and electromechanical installation of the teaching buildings are currently in progress.
