Nansha welcomes the world's largest container ship

A huge ship was spotted in Nansha Container Terminal of Guangzhou Port on Feb 12. Measuring 400 meters long with a capacity to hold 20,000 Twenty-foot Equivalent Units (TEUs), it is one of the largest 200,000-metric-ton container ships in the world.

The ship was deployed on the Ocean Alliance Middle East express line. It is one of the seven Very Large Crude Carrier ships (VLCC) sailing the line.

The ship mainly carries household appliances and daily necessities manufactured in Guangdong and sails to Singapore and the United Arab Emirates'Jebel Ali in the Middle East.

In January 2022, Guangzhou Port Group completed a total foreign trade container throughput of 833,000 TEUs, up 13.6 percent year on year. Among them, Nansha Port completed 706,000 TEUs, up 21.7 percent year on year.
