Nansha Port sets off 1st sea-rail freight train

A sea-rail freight train from Southeast Asia, loaded with 40 containers of imported timber, left Nansha Port South Station to Jiangmen, one of the most important timber markets in Guangdong province on Feb 8. It was the first freight train from Nansha Port.

The launch of Nansha Port South Station freight train, directly serves the transportation and port industry of Nansha Port area together with Nansha International Logistics Center's north warehouse and cold chain logistics.

"This is our first timber train starting from Nansha Port area of Guangzhou Port. Compared with previous modes of transport to Jiangmen, this train saves 1 to 2 days on the premise of ensuring no increase in transport costs," said Wu Fengsheng, the general manager of a freight agency in Guangzhou.

Guangzhou Port Logistics is working with Guangzhou Railway Group and Guangzhou Nansha Port Railway to improve transportation plans. They got the approval of railway freight preferential policies for seven projects from Nansha Port to Jiangmen and Shaoguan within Guangdong , Hunan, Jiangxi outside Guangdong on Jan 30.
