The country's first non-profit school for the children of Hong Kong residents, the Nansha School for Hong Kong Children, is under rapid construction in the Hong Kong-style community of Dongchong town, Nansha district.
With a total area of 93 mu (6.2 hectares), the school will contain 36 classes and an estimated student population of 1,620. All enrolled students must be from Hong Kong or overseas.
The school offers Diploma of Secondary Education and international courses from the Hong Kong academic system which is applied in the Hong Kong schools.
The design and construction team completed the project site selection, development mode research, school use requirements, and architectural scheme comparison and selection in only two months.
The creative concept of "one heart, one root" applied in the preliminary design for the campus has displayed an ideal example for other schools.
The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of May this year and will be put into use synchronously with the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) in September.
