The Nansha node for the international data transmission hub of China Aviation Cloud (CAC) was delivered to China Telecom (Guangdong) on Jan 6 at the Dagang Guangzhou-Hong Kong intelligent manufacturing base.
The node is CAC's first mega data center and has two data centers, one power center and other supporting facilities such as a 110-kilowatt transformer substation and 48 1,800-kW diesel generating sets.
The node's first group of 1,000 6.5-kilowatt racks have been completed and are undergoing debugging after over a year of work. The node is the first new piece of infrastructure that has been delivered for operation in the base.
Wang Xiangjiang of China Telecom (Guangdong) said that the project will provide comprehensive intelligence and information services for governments, companies and individuals.
Strategic cooperation contracts for the Nansha international data free trade port project were also signed the same day between CAC and other parties including the Nansha commerce bureau and financial institutes such as Bank of China, Agricultural Bank of China and China Construction Bank, who will provide a total credit and cooperation intention fund of over 26 billion yuan ($4 billion).
The 31.8-billion-yuan project covers a total area of 450 mu and is expected to be put into operation by 2025. It will feature cross-border trade, offshore finance, artificial intelligence, internet of things and cloud computing. It will seek to attract regional headquarters of large multinational enterprises and innovation centers to Nansha and cultivate over 500 sci-tech companies.
Huang Xiaofeng of Nansha Development Zone's administrative zone said that the two projects will inject new vitality into Nansha's high-quality development.
