The Pearl River branch of the National Freshwater Genetic Resource Center established a cooperation base focusing on ornamental fish germplasm resources in Dagang, Nansha, as local media outlets reported on Dec 24.

A variety of fish can be seen swimming in glass jars and ponds in the breeding cooperative. "We have been committed to ornamental fish seedling research and breeding for 18 years, and there are now over 200 species of ornamental fish from all over the world," said an official from the cooperation base.

The base contains an array of laboratories, warehouses and basic infrastructure, and provides education on freshwater aquatic germplasm resources as well as other professional services.

The Pearl River Branch of the National Freshwater Genetic Resource Center has established an advanced and stable resource bank, which can be used for deep research and digital information processing.
