Local media outlets reported on Nov 25 that the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) (Guangzhou) has now opened enrollment applications for its doctoral program in artificial intelligence for the autumn 2022 semester.
The artificial intelligence discipline is part of the Information Hub of HKUST (Guangzhou) and is primarily a research institution. Since 2019, the hub has enrolled three batches of more than 100 researchers and doctoral students through the HKUST Guangzhou Pilot Program at the Clearwater Bay campus in Hong Kong.
The core building and supporting buildings in phase I of the HKUST project have been fully capped and are expected to be completed next year.
The HKUST (Guangzhou) is located in the northwest corner of Qingsheng area, Nansha district in Guangzhou, and covers an area of about 1,669 mu (111 hectares). The project will be constructed in two phases with the first phase covering an area of about 716 mu.
The HKUST will design four key academic areas including 16 frontier research areas that aim to cultivate international high-end talents with innovative abilities in interdisciplinary fields such as data science, robotics and automated systems as well as serve the technological innovation, industrial upgrading and high-quality development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
