Guangzhou's Nansha district has been approved to set up a national offshore innovation and entrepreneurship base for overseas talents, local media outlets reported on Nov 23.
A high-quality offshore innovation ecosystem will be established and the base will be built as an important platform for Nansha to introduce overseas talents and technologies, incubate innovation and entrepreneurship projects, and transform scientific and technological achievements.
The base in Nansha allows overseas research teams as well as scientific and technological talents no need to work in China to realize the transformation of achievements in China.
The offshore base will make it possible for overseas talents to not only enjoy domestic preferential policies and the vast Chinese market, but also continue to enjoy the overseas research conditions.
The base will provide policy support, scientific research facilities, convenient communication and a high-quality environment for project teams and talents to carry out innovation and entrepreneurship activities offshore or in Nansha.
In the past five years, Nansha has gathered 12,000 high-level talents, which is nearly eight times higher than in 2016, and 32 of them are academicians. By 2026, Nansha will try its best to become an internationally influential and competitive place for overseas innovation resources and a demonstration base for overseas talents' innovation and entrepreneurship.
