The 2021 Understanding China Conference themed around "Whence and Whither" is scheduled to be held in Guangzhou from Dec 1 to 4, officials announced during a press conference held on Nov 28.
Around 600 guests will attend this year's event and 100 of them will participate online including Vice Chairman of the State Duma of Russia Ivan Мelnikov and Gordon Brown, the former prime minister of the United Kingdom. The number of international guests invited to this year's event is set to reach a new high.
Li Junru, former vice-president of the Party School of the CPC Central Committee and vice chairman of the China Institute for Innovation and Development Strategy, said during the press conference that this year's event is one day longer than previous ones.
Various kinds of activities such as four themed forums, 12 parallel seminars, closed-door seminars and an on-site tour in Guangzhou will be organized to let guests learn more about China.
In addition, eight themed seminars to further showcase Guangzhou's achievements will be held during this year's event, covering sectors such as the happy living environment, scientific innovation, business environment, culture and the digital economy.
