Hengli Island in Guangzhou's Nansha district will be built into a regional stomatological medical center after the establishment of the Affiliated Stomatological Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University.
The design of the hospital was recently revealed for the first time, local media outlets reported on Nov 20.
The hospital is about 1 kilometer away from Hengli Metro Station and covers an area of 24,140 square meters.
The total investment of the project is about 1 billion yuan ($156.69 million), and will contain areas for outpatient and medical technology, scientific research, administration, dormitories, logistics services and a basement. The hospital plans to set up 400 dental chairs and 200 patient beds.
The hospital also plans to build a platform that consists of high-quality oral medicine, education and scientific innovation, prioritized quality medical services, and an overall improvement of medical services in the Nansha New Area.
It will strive to be a 3A-grade stomatological hospital that's in line with the construction and development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area as well as serve the entire Guangdong province, Hong Kong, Macao and Southeast Asia.
The hospital will be equipped with a green rooftop sky garden and intelligent atrium ventilation equipment that maintains sustainable circulation with low energy consumption to reduce the "heat island effect."
