The International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) has announced the winners of the 2021 IFLA Asia-Pacific Landscape Architecture Awards in October, and Guangzhou's Nansha district was among them.

Nansha's smart green corridors on Lingshan Island won the award of excellence in the parks and environment category for their vitality and resilience.

IFLA is an organization representing landscape architects from all over the world. It is under the guidance of UNESCO and is the most influential academic organization in the international landscape architecture industry.

Fourteen of these APAC member countries have formed the IFLA Asia Pacific Chapter (IFLA APR) affiliate, which handles and supports landscape architecture issues and projects across the region.

The 2021 Asia Pacific Landscape Architecture Awards were handed out in 19 categories with outstanding, excellent and honorable mentions. There were 397 entries from the Asia-Pacific region.

Nansha's award-winning project was designed by a team from the Architectural Design and Research Institute of South China University of Technology, and was led by Sun Yimin, a national engineering survey and design master.

The project is located at the entrance of Pearl Bay in Nansha district, which spans an area of 164 hectares on the tip of the island. The two major north-south urban green corridors added precious high-quality public green space to the city, and also reshaped the tip of the island's landscape, which was unanimously recognized by the judges.
