The 2021 Global IPv6 Summit, held by IPv6 Forum and the China Future Internet Engineering Center, took place in Guangzhou's Nansha district from Oct 21 to 22, marking the second consecutive time for the event to be held in Nansha.

Themed on establishing an ecological system to boost the integrated application and development of IPv6, hundreds of industrial experts and business elites from both home and abroad such as Wu Hequan, an academician at the Chinese Academy of Engineering, were invited to discuss the development trends of advanced technologies in IPv6.

Plaques for the Guangdong-Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area and the Joint Laboratory of IPv6 Industrial Innovation Center were unveiled in Nansha during the ceremony.

Macao University of Science and Technology and the Greater Bay Area Scientific Research Private Network were also put into operation.

In recent years, Nansha has been making full use of development opportunities brought by the digital economy and has introduced the only IPv6 root server in South China, which is one of the 25 globally.

"IPv6 will provide solid technical support for the development of emerging industries such as high-end manufacturing, artificial intelligence, big data analysis and cross-border data," said Liu Dong, director of the China Future Internet Engineering Center.

"With more industrial platforms coming to Nansha, the IPv6 will make great contributions to the development of local industries," Liu added.
