Guangzhou's Nansha district will add three more metro lines according to the layout of the city's transportation in the 14th Five-year Plan period (2021-25), which was released on Oct 8.
The layout put forward that Guangzhou will build nine metro line projects including extensions, and the projects' total length will reach 245.7 kilometers.
Among them, the southern extension section of Line 22, which is the first phase of Line 26, and the first phase of Line 15, are planned to pass through Nansha. Three subway lines are expected to further improve Nansha's rail transit network.
The southern extension section of Line 22, stretching 58.5 km, will run from Panyu Square to Changan pedestrian street in Dongguan, Guangdong province and pass through Nansha Passenger Port.
Line 15 runs all the way through Nansha district and is set to become a metro loop line connecting major areas in the district such as the starting area of Mingzhu Bay and the central area of Jiaomen River.
The first phase of Line 26 is parallel to Line 3, which is another north-south artery in the city.
In addition, a number of expressways that will pass through Nansha such as the Nansha-Zhongshan Expressway and the Shiziyang Channel are also undergoing construction to make Nansha a transportation hub in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
