Four additional trains have been put into operation since Oct 8 on Guangzhou Metro Line 4 during workdays, local media outlets reported on Oct 13.

As one of the main commuter lines running between Nansha and downtown Guangzhou, the metro line has seen its passenger flow demand increasing each day, especially after the start of the new semester in Guangzhou.

The average daily passenger flow of Line 4 on weekdays in September reached 430,000, up 4.4 percent year on year, and bounced back to 96.6 percent of the same period in 2019 before the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The number of trains running on the metro line has now reached 48 after two adjustments and a minimum interval has been further reduced from 2 minutes 44 seconds at the beginning of the year to the current 2 minutes 20 seconds.

The adjustment is expected to further enhance the passenger transport capacity on the metro line during peak hours and contribute to the transport guarantee for the upcoming 130th China Import and Export Fair from Oct 15 to 19.
