The Xiancun to Wanqingsha section of Guangzhou Metro Line 18 officially began operation on Sept 28. The subway train has a maximum speed of 160 kilometers and is the fastest subway train in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
A number of Nansha locals who took the first train on the metro line shared their experiences.
"Our family came here to try out the metro line today. It took only half an hour to travel from Nansha to Tianhe district," a local resident surnamed Jia said.
A citizen from Wanqingsha surnamed Chen said, "I used to take a taxi when I wanted to go to the city center. Now that Metro Line 18 is operational, it only takes half an hour from Wanqingsha to the city center, which is not only faster, but also cheaper."
Creative cultural products such as commemorative tickets and umbrellas to mark the operation of the first phase of Metro Line 18 also debuted on the same day.
A total of about 200 parking spaces have been created near Hengli Station and Wanqingsha Station. The temporary parking lot for social vehicles near Hengli Station is located on the north side of the temporary bus Station, covering an area of 2,632 square meters with a total of 84 parking spaces.
The temporary parking lot at Wanqingsha Station is located on the south side of Exits A and B at the station, with a total of about 110 parking spaces.
